Gantt was a Bajoran resistance fighter and was a member of the Shakaar resistance cell on Bajor, along with Kira Nerys.

He treated Kira Taban, who had been attacked by the Cardassians, in the 2360s. Furel suggested that Gannt lead an attack on the Ninth Order which was outside Tempasa, as he knew the territory.

Gantt was with Taban when he died and later told Kira he had passed away calling her name. (DS9: "Ties of Blood and Water")
