Ganymede is the third moon of Jupiter, a planet in the Sol system in Sector 001. It is the largest moon in the system and is named after the cupbearer of the Greek gods in Terran mythology.
By the 23rd century, Ganymede obviously is populated or at least the site of a Starfleet outpost, since Montgomery Scott of the Federation starship USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) mentioned a mysterious "green drink" he found here, and later drank with the Kelvan Tomar. (TOS: "By Any Other Name")
