The company's series of "Brilliant Machines" typically involve science-fiction homages, including Star Trek. The first ad of that campaign featured Brent Spiner as Data (in a TNG Season 1 uniform) beaming down to join other robots to see what GE had come up with. [1]

In 2013, John Cho and Joseph Gatt appeared as Hikaru Sulu and 0718 in another commercial. Cho and Gatt shot the commercial in New York on a smaller version of the USS Enterprise's bridge, with their costumes sent over from Los Angeles. [2]
