Template:Realworld George Drakoulias (born 1965) is a Greek-American music producer and supervisor. He was the music supervisor on 2009's Star Trek. One of the creatures seen in the film, the drakoulias, was named after him. He previously worked with Star Trek composer Michael Giacchino on the television series Lost and Six Degrees (both executive produced by J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk).
Drakoulias was born in Syosset, New York. He was a staff producer and A&R (Artists and Repertoire) executive at American Recordings, during which time he discovered and produced the albums for The Black Crowes and The Jayhawks. Outside of American, Drakoulias has produced albums for such artists as Primal Scream, Screaming Trees, Reef, Dan Penn, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
Drakoulias began working in film and television in 1999, producing two songs for the comedy Big Daddy. He then signed on as music supervisor on the short-lived drama series Wonderland, which starred Michelle Forbes. Afterwards, he supervised the music for the Ben Stiller films Zoolander, Starsky & Hutch (produced by Akiva Goldsman and starring Fred Williamson), and Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. He also produced many of the songs used in Paramount Pictures' musical comedies School of Rock and Team America: World Police.
He has worked as music supervisor on several other films, including Blade: Trinity, Zodiac, and Blades of Glory. More recently, he supervised the music for the action comedies Hancock and Tropic Thunder. The latter film featured Reggie Lee and was released by Paramount Pictures.
