George Peter Wilbur (6 March 19411 February 2023; age 81) was a stuntman and stunt actor who performed stunts in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

Wilbur started his career as an extra and stand-in for John Wayne in the film El Dorado (1966) and moved on to become a horse wrangler and a stuntman. He studied stunt performing in the stunt school of Paul Stader and got his first big job as stunt double for Peter Graves in Mission: Impossible (1969-1973).

He also doubled for stars such James Garner, Craig T. Nelson, and John Larroquette and is best known for his performance as Michael Myers in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988, with Michael Pataki, and music by Alan Howarth) and Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995, with Mitchell Ryan, Kim Darby and J.C. Brandy, and also scored by Howarth), a role which was later played by Star Trek stuntman Chris Durand. He also appeared on several Halloween DVD specials.

In 2001 he was nominated for a Taurus World Stunt Award for best water work in the film The Perfect Storm with fellow Star Trek stunt performers Dana Dru Evenson, Jennifer Watson, and Tim Rigby.

Among his extensive stunt resume are films such as Planet of the Apes (1968, with James Daly, Lou Wagner, Paul Lambert, and stunts by Nick Dimitri, Tony Epper, Eddie Hice, Gene LeBell, and Frank Orsatti), Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972), Blacula (1972, with William Marshall, Thalmus Rasulala, and Elisha Cook), The Hindenburg (1975, with René Auberjonois and Alan Oppenheimer), The Fantastic Seven (1979, with Christopher Lloyd), he Sword and the Sorcerer (1982, with Anthony De Longis), Poltergeist (1982), The Beastmaster (1982), Ghostbusters (1984, with Michael Ensign, Timothy Carhart, Paddi Edwards, and stunts by Bill Couch, Sr., Tony Brubaker, Diamond Farnsworth, Tom Morga, and Tony Cecere), Ewoks: The Battle for Endor (1985, with Carel Struycken and Darryl Henriques), Poltergeist II: The Other Side (1986), Die Hard (1988), The 'Burbs (1989, with Robert Picardo, Dick Miller, Henry Gibson, and Wendy Schaal), Total Recall (1990), The Silence of the Lambs (1991), Hot Shots! Part Deux (1993), Broken Arrow (1996, with Christian Slater), Mars Attacks! (1996, with Paul Winfield), What Planet Are You From? (2000), Spider-Man (2002, with Kirsten Dunst, Jill Sayre, and Spice Williams), and The Notebook (2004).

He also performed stunts in television series such as Magnum, P.I. (1986), Dynasty (1989, with Stephanie Beacham and Kenneth Tigar), Tales from the Crypt (1989, with John Kassir and Larry Drake), The Practice, and The District.

Wilbur died at the age of 81 on 1 February 2023. [1]
