Gyro-shielding was a type of deflector shielding that kept a starship correctly oriented. It was utilized aboard Federation starships in the 24th century.
The USS Malinche was equipped with gyro-shielding. In 2373, a Maquis vessel was able to break through the shielding using a particle beam, sending the ship adrift and off axis and enabling the Maquis to disable the Malinche. (DS9: "For the Uniform")
