The Hermosa Earthquake was a major earthquake that occurred on Earth in year 2047.
The earthquake struck the western coastline of the United States of America causing parts of Los Angeles to sink into the Pacific Ocean, which transformed the area into one of the world's largest coral reefs. These reefs became home to thousands of different marine lifeforms. (VOY: "Future's End")
