Hoex was a 24th century Ferengi businessman.
He became bitter rivals with fellow Ferengi businessman, Turot, after buying out Turot's controlling interest in the cargo ports on Volchok Prime.
Hoex was invited to a very important conference with Grand Nagus Zek held aboard Deep Space 9 in 2369. Krax, who helped coordinate the conference, told Quark, the conference's host, not to seat Hoex next to Turot due to their bitter rivalry. (DS9: "The Nagus")
According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, Hoex is a reference to Ren Höek of the TV series "Ren & Stimpy".
