The Huron-type is a preliminary designation for a class of freighter starship used by the Federation Starfleet in the 23rd century.
One vessel of this type was the SS Huron NCC-F1513. (TAS:"The Pirates of Orion")
Background
No canonical class name was devised for this class by any of the creative staff, although unofficial blueprints sometimes mention the name Independence-class.
One interesting thing about this vessel, seen in The Animated Series, is the letter-prefix registry NCC-F1513. Presumably this registry number's "F" prefix could indicate it is a freighter, but if this ship exists and there is also a vessel NCC-1513 besides it, it would mean there could be many more starships in Starfleet than could be estimated by using a registry as a guide.
Scaling references used by the animators show the freighter in comparison to Enterprise. The Huron appears to be approximately 100 meters in length and 60 meters in height, although this is strictly a ballpark figure, no specific size scale is canonically verified. These figures roughly correspond to deck heights determined by the placement of windows on the ship's hull.
