Ian Patrick Williams is the actor who portrayed the holographic Dr. Fitzgerald in the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Spirit Folk".
Williams has appeared in television series and feature films since the early '80s. Among his first on-screen roles are episodes of Archie Bunker's Place (1982, with Steve Susskind), E/R (1984, with Jason Alexander and Pamela Adlon), Hill Street Blues (1986, with Barbara Bosson), Hooperman (1987, with Phil Chong and Chip Heller), and Freddy's Nightmares (1988, with William Frankfather). He also portrayed supporting and leading characters in the horror film Re-Animator (1985, starring Jeffrey Combs), the science fiction comedy TerrorVision (1986, with Gerrit Graham, Chad Allen, and Bert Remsen), the horror film Dolls (1987, with Stephen Lee), and the drama Blueberry Hill (1988, with Dendrie Taylor).
In the '90s he continued his television career and made guest appearances in television series such as Alien Nation (1990, starring Eric Pierpoint, Gary Graham, and Michele Scarabelli), Major Dad (1991), Designing Women (1991), Matlock (1992, with Robert Curtis Brown, David Froman, Jim Jansen, and Leon Russom), Batman (1992, co-starring the voice of George Murdock), Silk Stalkings (1993, with Tracy Scoggins and Victor Bevine), Seinfeld (1995, starring Jason Alexander and with Richard Herd, Thomas Dekker, Brian McNamara, and Tom Wright), Diagnosis Murder (1996, with Ronny Cox and Michael Reilly Burke), Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (1996, starring Teri Hatcher and K Callan and with Keene Curtis, Pancho Demmings, and Harve Presnell), NYPD Blue (1997, starring Gordon Clapp), and Batman Beyond (1999, alongside Sherman Howard). In addition, he joined the cast of the science fiction film Robot Jox (1990, with Gary Graham and Jeffrey Combs), the television bio drama Reason for Living: The Jill Ireland Story (1991, with Jeff Austin and Dierk Torsek), the television bio drama Roseanne: An Unauthorized Biography (1994, with David Graf, Joycelyn O'Brien, and J. Patrick McCormack), and the drama Born Bad (1999, with Larry Cedar and Marnie McPhail).
After his performance in Star Trek: Voyager in 2000, Williams appeared in the television drama American Tragedy (2000, with Clyde Kusatsu, Christopher Plummer, Richard Cox, Francis Guinan, Jeff Kober, and Chase Hoyt), the television series Strong Medicine (2001) and Frasier (2002, starring Kelsey Grammer and with Christopher Shea), the horror thriller King of the Ants (2003, with Joe Davis), J.J. Abrams' Alias (2005, with Rachel Nichols), the Medium episode Still Life (2005, directed by Robert Duncan McNeill), and in several roles in the daily soap Days of Our Lives (2000-2006). More recently, Williams was part of the ER episode "Blackout" (2007, with Scott Grimes and Leland Orser) and the science fiction comedy Superhero Movie (2008), which featured several Star Trek actors, including Christopher McDonald, Brent Spiner, Michael Papajohn, and Amanda Carlin. He has also finished the shootings for the drama Polar Opposites (2008), the horror thriller The Last Resort (2008), and the comedy Touch Wood (2008).
