USS Voyager flight path, Rhode Island

The location of the Bajoran wormhole terminus in the Gamma Quadrant

The Idran system was a trinary star system in the Gamma Quadrant. It consisted of the primary supergiant Idran (FGC-1215) and its twin O-type companions. There were no M-class planets in the system.

This system was located approximately forty thousand light years from the galactic core and approximately seventy thousand light years from the Bajoran system in the Alpha Quadrant. Idran was located 4.7234 light years away from the terminus of the Bajoran wormhole.

In the 22nd century, the Quadros-1 probe conducted a stellar survey of the Gamma Quadrant, including the Idran system.

In 2369, the Danube-class runabout USS Rio Grande traveled through the Bajoran wormhole into the Gamma Quadrant. Upon entering the quadrant, the runabout's computer identified the nearest system as Idran based on a hydrogen-alpha spectral analysis from the Quadros-1 probe survey. (DS9: "Emissary"; Star Trek: Voyager, Season 7 production art [1])

Dr. Julian Bashir pointed out the Idran system to Kai Opaka during her trip through the Bajoran wormhole later that year. (DS9: "Battle Lines")

According to the script for "Emissary", the pronunciation for Idran was "IH-drahn". [2]
