The location of the Bajoran wormhole terminus in the Gamma Quadrant

The Idran system was an uninhabited star system. This system was located approximately 40,000 light years from the galactic core in the Gamma Quadrant and approximately 70,000 light years from the Bajoran system in the Alpha Quadrant.

In the latter half of the 22nd century, the Quadros-1 probe conducted a stellar survey of stars in the Gamma Quadrant. One of the systems surveyed was Idran (FGC-1215). This ternary system consisted of the primary supergiant Idran and its twin spectral class O-type companions. There were no M-class planets in the system.

In 2369, the Danube-class runabout USS Rio Grande traveled through the Bajoran wormhole into the Gamma Quadrant. Upon entering into the quadrant, the runabout's computer identified the nearest system as Idran based on a hydrogen-alpha spectral analysis from the Quadros-1 probe survey. Idran was located 4.7234 light years away from the terminus of the wormhole. (DS9: "Emissary"; Star Trek: Voyager, Season 7 production art [1])

Doctor Julian Bashir pointed out the Idran system to Kai Opaka during her trip through the Bajoran wormhole in 2369. (DS9: "Battle Lines")

According to the script for "Emissary", the pronunciation for Idran was "IH-drahn". [2]
According to the Star Trek: Star Charts, on page 12, Idran was a Class F star. It had a magnitude of -3, which was 1,000 times brighter than Sol.
