An interstellar phenomena forecast was a report which provided information on the movement and location of interstellar phenomena, such as passing pulsars.
In 2376, Federation space station Deep Space 9 predicted that a pulsar would pass close to the MIDAS array. By firing a tachyon beam at the pulsar, Pathfinder Project was able to create a micro-wormhole through which they made contact with USS Voyager, 30,000 light years away in the Delta Quadrant, for a brief period. (VOY: "Pathfinder")
Interestingly, this is the only mention of Deep Space 9 in a canon Star Trek production whose setting follows the final events of the series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, as the episode "Pathfinder" is set in 2376 but DS9's fictional events conclude in 2375. The space station was mentioned one last time in a 2000 episode of Star Trek: Voyager, "Fury" but was referenced from the year 2371, which is the year the episode is partially set in.
