Inversion field

An inversion field

File:Voyager schematic twisted.jpg

The extent of the distortion effect on Voyager

An inversion field is an unusual spatial anomaly that has the effect of distorting anything that approaches it.

In 2371, the crew of the USS Voyager encountered an inversion field. Whilst enveloped in the field, the ship and the crew experienced the distorting effects. Captain Janeway was unfortunate enough to come into direct contact with the field, and was rendered incoherent until a way was discovered to escape the field. Once away from the anomaly, no structural damage remained though it was discovered that 20 million gigaquads of new information was input into the ship's computer and Voyager's entire database was copied and downloaded.
