Isolinear circuitry was the basis of much 24th century Federation computer technology, replacing duotronics which were prevalent on Federation starships in the 23rd century.

After the USS Voyager became stranded in the Delta Quadrant in 2371, the crew attempted to retrofit some of the ship's bio-neural circuitry to isolinear circuitry when a bacterial infection afflicted its limited supply of bio-neural gel packs and caused failures in key systems.
