Jack R. Orend is the actor who played a Terran slave in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Crossover".
Orend started his acting career in 1979 when he portrayed a weary worker in the television drama Dummy along Paul Sorvino, LeVar Burton, and Gregg Henry, followed by supporting roles in John landis' musical comedy The Blues Brothers (1980), the television dramas Chicago Story (1981, with Michael Horton) and Skokie (1981, with John Rubinstein), the comedy Big Shots (1987, with Robert Joy and Paul Winfield), the television thriller The Heist (1989, with Wendy Hughes and Noble Willingham), and the crime drama An Innocent Man (1989, with F. Murray Abraham).
He portrayed the recurring role of Dwight in the television series General Hospital (1981) and made guest appearances in L.A. Law (1988, with Corbin Bernsen, Larry Drake, Joel Brooks, George Coe, Nancy Vawter, and Michael Keenan), Knots Landing (1990, with Michelle Phillips and Marco Sanchez), Quantum leap (1992, starring Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell and with Vaughn Armstrong), and The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. (1993, with Tony Jay and Mark Bramhall).
Further film credits include the thriller F/X2 (1991, with Leland Crooke and Biff Yeager), the television war drama The Heroes of Desert Storm (1991, with Wren T. More recently, Orend appeared in the television series ER (1998, with Robert Knepper, Lily Mariye, and Brooke Stephens), Timecop (1998, with Don Stark and Michael Kagan), FreakyLinks (2000, with Ron Canada), Charmed (2001, with Michael Bailey Smith and Dorenda Moore), The District (2003, with Melinda Clarke, Pancho Demmings, Michael Spound, and Daniel Roebuck), and Miracles (2003, with Spencer Garrett, Wendy Schenker, and Mark L. Taylor), voiced Cilix in the video game Emperor: Battle for Dune (2002, along Michael Bell, Eugenie Bondurant, Hamilton Camp, Michael Dorn, Kay E. Kuter, Vincent Schiavelli, Iona Morris, Michael Bailey Smith, Adrian Sparks, Musetta Vander, and Nicholas Worth), and portrayed featured characters in the fantasy drama Iowa (2005, with John Savage) and the comedy Waisting Away (2007, with Chris Antonucci, Colby French, Richard Riehle, and Tracey Walter).
