Jake Jacobs is an actor, director, and writer who wrote together with Marc Cushman the original story for the Star Trek: The Next Generation third season episode "Sarek". Cushman's and Jacobs' unpublished story was later rewritten by Peter S. Beagle who also wrote the teleplay.

Beside his work on Star Trek, Jacobs also wrote several episodes of the television series Bachelor Pad (1986-1987) and Channel K (1986-1988) with fellow writing partner Marc Cushman.

As an actor, Jacobs had supporting and featured parts in the television series Channel K (1986-1988), Highway to Heaven (1988, with Lenore Kasdorf, Bill Quinn, and David Spielberg), Hard Time on Planet Earth (1989, with Judyann Elder), Murder, She Wrote (1989, with Todd Bryant, Bernie Casey, and Paul Sorvino), Freddy's Nightmares (1988-1989, with Katherine Moffat), CBS Summer Playhouse (1989, with Tom Wright and William Frankfather), Bachelor Pad (1986-1990), Columbo (1990, with Anne Haney and Stanley Kamel), and Coach (1990).

Among his film credits as an actor are Phantom of the Mall: Eric's Revenge (1989, with John Walter Davis and Terrence Evans), A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (1989, with Lisa Wilcox, Michael Bailey Smith, and Victor A. Haddox), the action film Driven to Kill (1991), the thriller Ambition (1991, with Clancy Brown, J.D. Cullum, Rick Scarry, and Karen Landry), The Haunted (1991, with George D. Wallace, William O'Connell, Stephen Markle, Parker Whitman, and Freyda Thomas), the television thriller Midnight's Child (1992, with Olivia d'Abo, Roxann Dawson, and Jim Norton), and the television western Wild Card (1992, with Terry O'Quinn, René Auberjonois, Kamala Lopez-Dawson, and Bert Remsen).
