(written from a Production point of view)

James Kahn (born 30 December 1947; age 76) is a television producer and writer from Chicago, Illinois. He served as supervising producer on Star Trek: Voyager during its seventh season and also wrote four episodes during his tenure.

Kahn's first work for Star Trek came when he co-wrote the story for the Star Trek: The Next Generation fifth season episode "The Masterpiece Society". Discussing this episode in The Official Star Trek: The Next Generation Magazine, Kahn stated that "science fiction fulfills many of the same needs for wonder and awe that Human religion used to fill, but within the context of a more intellectualized, scientific framework. Science fiction has become the religion of our age." (The Official Star Trek: The Next Generation Magazine issue 28)

Outside of Star Trek, Kahn wrote the novelization of the final original Star Wars film, Return of the Jedi. Kahn was also a co-executive producer, staff writer, and executive story editor for the Aaron Spelling primetime soap opera Melrose Place. He also wrote three episodes for William Shatner's TekWar. Other shows for which he has written include St. Elsewhere, Beyond Reality, and The Agency.
