Bonnell has spent 20 years in restaurant and hospitality businesses, and has worked as an executive chef and as a general manager for hotels and restaurants. He also owned his own catering company. In addition, he has spent 6 years as Media Liaison at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix.
He was a Craft Services Assistant in the 2006 film Employee of the Month (featuring Andy Dick and Sean Whalen). He then served as Assistant Location Manager on the 2007 film Wild Hogs.
In addition to Star Trek, Bonnell has also scouted locations for such upcoming films as the romantic drama Love N' Dancing (directed by Robert Iscove) and the horror thriller The Eye (for which he was also Assistant Location Manager). In addition, he was Assistant Location Manager on the western Appaloosa. All of these films are set for release in 2008.
