Jeffrey S. Chase (born 17 January 1968; age 56) is an actor and stuntman who portrayed three different characters in Star Trek, with the most prominent being an alien Starfleet cadet in several other scenes which took place aboard Enterprise. [1] [2] The crew dubbed him "Dexter" during the production to distinguish him from the other alien characters. Additional appearances in the film include as Romulan crewmember and a Klingon guard who appeared in a deleted scene. [3]

Credited as Jeffrey Chase, he appeared as a security officer guarding Khan in Star Trek Into Darkness. A behind the scenes photo of "Dexter" was later used as card #7 for the virtual collectible card battle game Star Trek: Rivals.

Chase was born as Jeffrey L. Sniffen in Paterson, New Jersey and had a career as a professional football player. He met his wife Kimberly in 1986 and they were married in 1991. They have one son, Cory. Because of his height of 6'7", Chase is not very hard to find in the productions he appeared in.

Chase previously appeared between 2001 and 2005 in five episodes of J.J. Abrams' spy series Alias, where he performed alongside Faran Tahir, Shauna Duggins, Tony Sears, Clint Lilley, Terry O'Quinn, Terry Jackson, Cliff DeYoung, Kevin Foster, Kane Hodder, and Lin Oeding. He also played a bodyguard in Abrams' 2006 sequel Mission: Impossible III.

Mostly with a double performance as stunt actor or stunt performer, Chase has played in television series such as Sheena (2001), NYPD Blue (2002, with Gordon Clapp and Peter White), Nip/Tuck (2003, with Marlene Forte), Scrubs, Angel, Firefly, She Spies (2004, with Robert Alonzo and Joel Swetow), Monk (2005, with Brett Cullen and Daniel Riordan), Burn Notice (2007, with Brett Cullen), and Days of Our Lives (2008).

Among his feature film appearances are the thriller In the Shadows (2001, with stunts by Hugh Aodh O'Brien), Black Knight (2001, with Kevin Conway), Signs (2002), the comedy Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star (2003, with Kevin Grevioux and Spencer Garrett), The Rundown (2003, starring The Rock and with William Lucking), The Punisher (2004), Transporter 2 (2005), Undead or Alive (2007, with Leslie Jordan and stunts by Thom Williams), Loaded (2008), Ace Ventura Jr.: Pet Detective (2008, with Cullen Douglas), and The Slammin' Salmon (2008, with Bobbi Sue Luther).
