Joey Banks is an occasional actor who was a regular extra for two seasons on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He played a Starfleet officer but also other small roles such as the Vulcan baseball player in "Take Me Out to the Holosuite". For this episode he was also the technical and baseball advisor and trained the main cast members in baseball techniques. He was uncredited for all of his appearances.

Banks is the son of famous baseball player Ernie Banks.

Among his acting resume are the films Brewster's Millions (1985, with Stephen Collins, Robert Ellenstein, Allan Graf, and Margot Rose), Pastime (1991, with Noble Willingham), One Good Cop (1991, with Tony Plana and Victor Rivers), Soul of the Game (1996, with Salli Elise Richardson, Gina Ravarra, Jerry Hardin, J.D. Hall, Richard Riehle, Mimi Cozzens, Erika Flores, Holiday Freeman, Jeff Coopwood, and stunts by Bob Minor and Jimmy Ortega), and Duplex (2003, with Wallace Shawn, Michelle Krusiec, Louis Giambalvo, Tracey Walter, Jenette Goldstein, Christopher Doyle, and stunts by Merritt Yohnka, Erik Stabenau, and Joni Avery).

He has also guest starred in the television series Wings (1992, starring Steven Weber).

Banks has worked as technical advisor for the film Soul of the Game (1996) and as a set production assistant for the film Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003, with Ray Wise and stunts by Elle Alexander, Mark Chadwick, Bobby Burns, Oliver Keller, Angela Meryl, and Austin Priester).
