John Hancock (4 March 194112 October 1992; age 51) was the actor who played Vice Admiral Haden in the Star Trek: The Next Generation third and fourth season episodes "The Defector" and "The Wounded".

Hancock was born in Hazen, Arkansas. He started to work as an actor in the late 1960s and his film credits include Airplane II: The Sequel (1982, with William Shatner, Earl Boen, Louis Giambalvo, Sam Anderson, Gary Faga, Louise Sorel, Bruce French, Marcy Lafferty, Dennis Howard, John Paragon, Elisa Goodman, and John Vernon) and 10 (1979, with Denise Crosby, Lisa Chess, Michael Champion, Jeannetta Arnette, and William Lucking). He played Scotty in the miniseries Roots: The Next Generations (1979, with Brock Peters, Paul Winfield, James Daly, Bruce French, John Rubinstein, Bernie Casey, Percy Rodriguez, Logan Ramsey, Jason Wingreen, Don Keefer, Patrick Cronin, and Earl Billings). He also had recurring roles on L.A. Law (1986-1991), Pacific Station (1991-1992, with Richard Libertini), and Love & War (1992, with Michael Nouri and Suzie Plakson).

Hancock died of a heart attack in 1992 in Los Angeles, California.
