John Jackson Miller (born 12 January 1968; age 56) is an American author who is best known for his work on the Star Wars line of comics and novels.

He began writing for the Dark Horse Comics Star Wars line in 2005, eventually publishing a large number of stories in both comic and novel form.

In 2007, Miller pitched a story for the Star Trek: Starfleet Corps of Engineers series. The pitch was accepted (Miller's first prose fiction sale), but the series was cancelled before his story was published. He later used one of the concepts from the story in a bonus novella in a Star Wars collection, Lost Tribe of the Sith. [1]

The Star Trek: Titan eBook Absent Enemies was his first published Star Trek work in February 2014. 2015 saw his first full-length novel, Takedown. His follow-up was the 2016 trilogy, Star Trek: Prey. More recent releases include the Discovery tie-in novel Die Standing (released on 14 July 2020) and the Picard tie-in novel Rogue Elements (released on 17 August 2021).

He was nominated for a Dragon Award in the Best Media Tie-In Novel category in 2020 for The Enterprise War [2] and again in 2022 for Rogue Elements. [3].

As of 2023, he has been nominated for four Scribe Awards in the Best Original Novel – Speculative category, winning three times. He was nominated in 2020 for The Enterprise War, and won in 2021 for Die Standing [4], in 2022 for Rogue Elements [5] and in 2023 for The High Country.
