John Milton (December 9, 1608 – November 8, 1674) was a human poet of British descent from Earth in the 17th century. He is perhaps most famous for the literary classic Paradise Lost.
In 2287, graffiti found on the entrance to Paradise City was taken from Paradise Lost. (Star Trek V: The Final Frontier")
It is likely the title of the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Paradise Lost" is also inspired by Milton's work.
