John Ronald Peel (born 24 January 1954; age 70) is a Star Trek author from Nottingham, England. He moved to the USA in 1981 and sold his first professional piece of writing to Marvel Comics. Over the next few years, he became friendly with Terry Nation (creator of Daleks for Doctor Who) through his magazine publishing and writing. The two soon collaborated on The Official Doctor Who & The Daleks Book for St. Martin's Press. This led to Peel writing episode adaptations of some early Doctor Who television serials and several original Doctor Who novels.

Over the next several years, he began writing a number of tie-in novels for various television series including five Star Trek novels, and several James Bond, Jr, Eerie, Indiana, and Carmen Sandiego books.

Over the years, Peel has also written under a number of pseudonyms including J.P. Trent, Nicholas Adams, Rick North, and John Vincent.
