John Rhys-Davies (born 5 May 1944; age 79) is the actor who played the holographic recreation of Leonardo da Vinci in the Star Trek: Voyager third and fourth season episodes "Scorpion" and "Concerning Flight".

For "Concerning Flight", he filmed his scenes between Thursday 11 September 1997 and Thursday 18 September 1997 on Paramount Stage 9 and 16 and on location at the Boyle Bros. Ranch and the LA DWP Valley Generating Station.

He was born in Salisbury, England to Welsh parents. As a child, he lived in Tanganyika (now part of Tanzania) with his family where his father worked as a colonial police officer, and later in Ammanford, Wales.

Rhys-Davies is best known as Gimli the Dwarf in the Lord of the Rings movies (co-starring Brad Dourif and Karl Urban). He is also well known as Sallah from the first, third and fifth Indiana Jones films, General Leonid Pushkin from the James Bond film The Living Daylights (featuring Walter Gotell), James "Paladin" Taggart in the games Wing Commander III and IV (also featuring Malcolm McDowell) and Professor Maximilian Arturo in the television series Sliders (co-starring Jerry O'Connell, co-created by Tracy Tormé).

One of Rhys-Davies' earliest television roles was as the Praetorian Guard officer Sertorius Macro in the miniseries I, Claudius, who conspires against and eventually replaces Patrick Stewart's General Sejanus. John Franklyn-Robbins and Guy Siner also appeared on the series.

He played the recurring role of King Macbeth of Scotland on Disney's animated series Gargoyles, also starring Diedrich Bader, Michael Bell, Avery Brooks, Clancy Brown, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Matt Frewer, Gerrit Graham, Clyde Kusatsu, Kate Mulgrew, Nichelle Nichols, Salli Elise Richardson, W. Morgan Sheppard, Marina Sirtis, Brent Spiner, David Warner, Frank Welker and Paul Winfield.

He lent his voice to the 1997 animated musical feature Cats Don't Dance, which also featured the voices of Scott Bakula, René Auberjonois, Frank Welker, and Lindsay Ridgeway.

He appeared in the 2004 film The Princess Diaries II: Royal Engagement (as the uncle of the character played by Chris Pine), The Great White Hype (with Corbin Bernsen, Salli Elise Richardson, and Susan Gibney), and In the Name of the King, with Ron Perlman.

In 2006, he was one of the supporting actors in the Biblical based film One Night with the King with Star Trek: Enterprise guest star Tommy "Tiny" Lister, Jr.. In 2009, he narrated Reclaiming the Blade, a documentary about Hollywood swordsmanship, with Karl Urban being interviewed for the film.

In 2016, he starred in another biblical film as the title character in The Apostle Peter: Redemption, alongside Dennis Andres.
