Template:Realworld Jonathan D. ("J.D.") Smith is a comic book artist specializing in coloring.

He broke into the industry by doing occasional pieces of painted cover art in the early 1990s, and when Top Cow moved their headquarters near to where he lived, he interviewed with the company to work as a colorist, but that did not pan out until a few months later when work became available.

He quickly became a regular color artist with the company working on a variety of books including Fathom, The Darkness, Tomb Raider, and Witchblade, but continued to work freelance. He also worked on other titles such as Green Lantern, X-Men, Spawn, Namor, Ultimate Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Batman.

He contributed color art to the 1996 Star TreX release from Marvel Comics.
