Jouret IV was the fourth planet in the Jouret planetary system. The atmosphere was capable of supporting humanoid lifeforms. Prior to 2366, this planet was colonized by the Federation. The colony was named New Providence.

The location of Jouret IV was depicted on a star chart in astrometrics on USS Voyager in 2376. (VOY: "Child's Play")
According to the Star Trek: Star Charts (pgs 61, 62, "United Federation of Planets I"), the Jouret system was located in the Beta Quadrant. This system was a single star system. Its primary was a Class G star with a magnitude of +3, which was ten times the brightness of Sol. In the mid-22nd century, this system was located in or near Romulan space. After 2160, this system was in or near Federation space. Jouret IV (New Providence) was listed as a member planet of the Federation in 2378.

In the computer game Star Trek Online, a starbase-sized Iconian gateway is revealed near the planet in 2409 which was previously hidden in subspace. It is hinted at, that readings of this hidden gateway drew the Borg to this system decades earlier in the first place.
