Karen J. Westerfield is a makeup artist who has worked on the series Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, and Star Trek: Enterprise. She is most well known as being the person who applied Armin Shimerman's makeup for his character Quark throughout the seven-year run of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Westerfield shared Emmy Awards for her work on TNG's "Cost of Living" and the DS9 episodes "Captive Pursuit" and "Distant Voices". She was nominated for an additional seven Emmy Awards for her work on Star Trek.
She has also worked as makeup artist on two of the Alien Nation TV movies, receiving an Emmy nomination for the 1996 movie, The Enemy Within. She more recently received an Emmy nomination for her work on the 2005 TV movie Lackawanna Blues. Her feature film credits include How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Town & Country, Spider-Man, The Polar Express and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
