Kartan

Kartan

Kartan was a Human native of Deneva in the 23rd century.

He was affected by the neural parasite and tried to attack Spock with a metal tool. He was stunned by Spock with a Vulcan nerve pinch. (TOS: "Operation -- Annihilate!")

Kartan was played by Dave Armstrong. His name was not mentioned in the episode, but comes from the script.
In the first draft teleplay, Kartan was the man who flew his ship into Deneva's sun, to destroy the creatures. Aurelan (who in this draft was not Kirk's sister-in-law) was in love with him, before he died. (The Star Trek Compendium, p. 65)
