Kelva is the homeworld of the Kelvan species and a component of the Kelvan Empire, located in the Andromeda Galaxy.
Kelvans predict rising radiation levels in Andromeda will render their home unhabitable to their species within 10,000 years, and are seeking new territories to conquer and occupy.
According to an idea by Mr. Spock a robot ship was apparently sent to Kelva along with the Federation proposal of peaceful relations and to offer some planets in the galaxy for the Kelvans to colonize. The Kelvan response will however take 600 years to arrive.
A rapidly forming crystalline structure called sahsheer, reminiscent of flower blossoms found in the Milky Way Galaxy, is native to Kelva. (TOS: "By Any Other Name")
