The Ketha Province was a lowland area of farming land on Qo'noS. Chancellor Martok was born in the Lowlands of the Ketha Province. (DS9: "Once More Unto the Breach")

In 2259 of the alternate reality, the Ketha Province had become uninhabited. The Starfleet traitor John Harrison fled there via transwarp beaming following his attack on Starfleet Headquarters. The USS Enterprise was ordered to fire 72 experimental stealth photon torpedoes on his location.

However, Captain Kirk chose to arrest Harrison instead of executing him without trial. He took a ship down, hoping to quietly extract him from the uninhabited region, but was waylaid by patrolling D4 class ships. Kirk sent Uhura to negotiate, but when the Klingons physically threatened her, Kirk went on the offensive. Harrison immediately showed himself and singlehandedly killed all the Klingons, before surrendering himself into Kirk's custody. (Star Trek Into Darkness)
