Kevin Ryan is an American writer and editor. In 1988, he was hired by Pocket Books as an assistant editor, including on their Star Trek novel line. He continued to serve as Pocket editorial through the 1990s, taking over as principal editor of the Star Trek line after the departure of Dave Stern from the role in 1992. He left Pocket editorial in 1996, with John Ordover taking on the role of guiding the Trek novel line.

His editorial credits include the first edition of the Star Trek Encyclopedia; Ryan also assigned Terry J. Erdmann to begin writing what became the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion in 1993.

On several occasions, he collaborated with author Michael Jan Friedman, including on the pitch and story for the pair's sole Star Trek television credit, the Star Trek: Voyager second season episode "Resistance". Ryan also contributed to a number of issues of DC Comics' Star Trek line.

As a Star Trek author, Ryan wrote two connected Pocket TOS trilogies: Errand of Vengeance and Errand of Fury.

He has also written for comic books and the novelization of the movie Van Helsing. He lives in New York with his wife and children.
