(Took out the elbow techniques. Elbow techniques are illegal under all kickboxing rulesets (K1, Glory, Showtime, etc). The previous writer must've been confused with Muai Thai, a similar, but still different sport.)

Kickboxing is a form of Earth martial arts that consists of attacks made of kicks and knees with close range punches akin to boxing.

The USS Enterprise-D held a martial arts competition for its crew in mid-2364. Among the entrants were Natasha Yar, Science Officer Swenson, and Lieutenant Minnerly.

Three days prior to the competition, Yar was approached by Worf, who asked if she was prepared. Yar expressed her concerns with Lt. Minnerly's kickboxing, but was assured by Worf that she was favored in the ship's pool. (TNG: "Skin of Evil")

Among the Star Trek performers are two kickboxing professionals, five time World Kickboxing Champion Lucia Rijker and three time World Kickboxing Champion Cheryl Wheeler Duncan.
