A landing pad is an area on a space station where small starships can dock.
Cardassian space stations like Terok Nor and Empok Nor have six landing pads. On Deep Space Nine, Starfleet housed the station's complement of runabouts there. Other ships that can also use the landing pads include Romulan and Ferengi shuttles. (DS9: "The Magnificent Ferengi", "In the Pale Moonlight", "Profit and Lace" et al)
