Lawrence Monoson (born 11 August 1964; age 59) is the actor from Yonkers, New York, who played the role of Hovath in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "The Storyteller". Archive footage of Monoson from "The Storyteller" was later used in "What You Leave Behind". He later appeared as First Officer Matthew Ryan in the Star Trek: Enterprise episode "Fortunate Son".

Monoson first appeared to the public eye at the age of sixteen as the star of the 1982 teen comedy The Last American Virgin, co-starring Phil Rubenstein. He followed this with supporting roles in such films as 1984's Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter with Erich Anderson, 1985's Mask with Andrew Robinson and Wayne Grace, and 1987's Gaby: A True Story, in which he co-starred with Star Trek: Voyager's Robert Beltran.

In 1991, he starred alongside fellow Enterprise guest actor Keith Carradine and TOS guest actor Jeff Corey in the TV movie Payoff. The following year, he made a brief, unbilled appearance in the film Final Judgement, starring Brad Dourif, and in 1993, he co-starred with Reg E. Cathey, David Clennon, Thomas Kopache, and Saul Rubinek in the acclaimed TV movie And the Band Played On, for which he received a CableACE Award nomination. This was followed with a brief recurring role on Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1994, along with Dina Meyer, and a role opposite fellow DS9 guest star Casey Biggs in the 1996 TV movie A Promise to Carolyn.

Other TV credits include appearances on JAG, Touched by an Angel, Murder, She Wrote, Chicago Hope, The Practice, CSI, CSI: Miami, and 24. In 1999, he appeared with fellow Deep Space Nine alumni Daphne Ashbrook and Lawrence Pressman in an episode of Profiler and began a brief stint on ER, during which he co-starred with fellow DS9ers Rosalind Chao and Gabrielle Union.

Monoson recently had a recurring role as Joey "The Rock" Manelli on the series Resurrection Blvd., starring another DS9 guest actor, Tony Plana. Next Generation and Voyager guest actor Ray Wise also appeared in a number of episodes featuring Monoson.
