Background
- Garneau was a member of STS-41G, a space shuttle mission. The mission insignia doesn't identify the crews first names, the mission number, or that a space shuttle was the vehicle used.
- Marc Garneau was the first Canadian in space. He later served as President of the Canadian Space Agency and is currently a Member of Parliament.
- The novels Federation and The Fall of Terok Nor (both by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens) discussed a Federation starship named the USS Garneau. The latter novel stated that the Garneau is Template:ShipClass.
