Marratt was a Cardassian gul who was a junior member of the Detapa Council in 2372.
A graduate of the Cardassian Military Academy, Gul Marratt was regarded as "one of Cardassia's rising stars". He was also reputed to be quite the ladies' man, especially with other officers' wives, including Gul Dukat's after Dukat fell out of favor with the Cardassian government.
Dukat once told Kira Nerys that if and when he was reinstated he would have assigned Marrat to the Cardassian Embassy on Breen, due to its coldness and the Cardassian love of heat. (DS9: "Return to Grace")
