Masters of Illusion: The Wizards of Special Effects was an American television documentary special which focused on the creation of movie and television special effects (SFX). The one-hour program was produced by GBR Entertainment Productions, directed by Gary R. Benz, and released on 22 May 1994.
The documentary was hosted by Roy Scheider and Jonathan Brandis and featured a look at the special makeup used in Star Trek: The Next Generation. During the segment, Michael Dorn discussed the facial prosthetics which were applied to him to create Worf's appearance.
GBR Entertainment Productions also co-produced the long running Movie Magic television series which concerned itself with motion picture SFX and VFX, and which started its run in the same year. The series actually kicked off with an episode covering the same ground as this television special.
