McKinley Rocket Base

McKinley Rocket Base

McKinley Rocket Base was an installation employed by NASA for launching payloads into orbit.

While its exact location is unknown, it was presumably somewhere within the boundaries of the United States of America, ten miles south of Highway 949.

In 1968, this base was the location of the launch of an orbiting nuclear platform. (TOS: "Assignment: Earth")

Background

"McKinley Rocket Base" was actually a fusion of NASA stock footage taken at the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida, and newly-shot scenes at Paramount Pictures studios, namely, the Marlene Dietrich Building across from the Commissary. [1]
