Nicholas "Nick" Locarno was a male Human who lived during the late-24th century. Following his expulsion from Starfleet Academy for getting a fellow cadet killed in a botched Kolvoord Starburst, he eventually moved to New Axton where he began operating as a civilian pilot for hire.

Over the next decade, his resentment towards Starfleet festered so much that he conspired to found an independent space exploration organization called Nova Fleet, consisting of starships stolen with the aid of lower deckers he talked into mutinying against their captains.
Latinum
A long and detailed list of all the uses of Latinum. I don't know how long this article has been on MA, but I was extremely impressed by it! --Defiant | Talk 14:48, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)

*Neutral. It's a very good article, and very well researched. I doubt, though, if it's really an example of "the best of Memory Alpha's community work". I don't know, but for some reason this article doesn't really fit with my idea of what an FA should be. As I have no valid reason to oppose, though, I do not. Ottens 22:25, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)

**Comment, I would just like to add, that the fact that it is so thoroughly researched makes it a prime example, because that shows a lot of effort went into this, versus simply watching an episode and just sequentially writing what happened in it...where there is, in effect, no research taking place. With this article, however, there is a great deal of organization, cross referencing and so forth, which indicates a great deal of effort was made in compiling and constructing this article. --Alan del Beccio 22:38, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)

*Comment This is a very good article, but in some places there are no links, even on text where the link would be obvious. Tobyk777 01:45, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)

*A few more Comments On the article's talk page, it says that the part about USD conversion rates was deleted. I think that this should be put back in. It's what gives people who read the article a way to see how much latnum is really worth. Also, about the issue on the talk page as to whether gold is valuable to Ferangi, i would say yes. In "Little Green Men" Quark agrees to take gold in compensaion for technology. But there are other items sources given which contrict this. This should be added to the contridctary info page on Ten foward. Tobyk777 22:56, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)

*Comment, there's a part that says "Values to be evaluated", doesn't that mean it's not in fact complete? - AJHalliwell 23:12, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)

However, when he attempted to recruit Beckett Mariner, she refused to cooperate and fled with a Genesis Device he had planned to use as a deterrent. His erratic behavior as a result of her actions ended up alienating his followers and ultimately resulted in his death when he was caught in the device's detonation. Self-nominationI think having my stuff run alongside Defiant's has given me an inferiority complex, because they keep getting longer and longer. Only beat me by 10kb this time! Anyway, I think this is one of the best I've done. --Schrei 01:11, 30 Aug 2005 (UTC)

* Comment, is the teaser really in the correct POV? It does refer to the viewer, and the screen, even if it is sorta POV of 3947. - AJHalliwell 23:47, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)

**You know, I read Gv's comment on latinum and I think I just realized how pointless it is to go into play-by-play detail considering it's just a summary - most people have seen the episode, and those who haven't probably aren't looking for a novel. Anyway, I originally kept referring to the camera/3947 as "it" or "the object," but it sounded really awkward, so dunno if there's a way to fix this. --Schrei 00:40, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Once everybody's finished tweaking this article, it ought to be a good candidate for an FA. Spanning two series, lots of background info, and an apparent end to his character arc. -LauraCC (talk) 21:59, 6 November 2023 (UTC)

Technically this isn't a self-nomination as I only contributed to part of this article but I think that this article is now up there with the other featured battle articles. --Scimitar 00:44, 26 Aug 2005 (UTC)

* Weren't several articles recently voted against for being to much like episode summaries? Well these sound a lot more like summaries of those scenes then those pages did. Also, as the name of this "skirmish" is non-canon, I think it's future needs to be re-evaluated, ie: Talk:Military Conflicts. - AJHalliwell 19:16, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)

(Self nomination) Comparatively speaking, this is one of the minor battles but I think that I made a good effort with writing this article.--Scimitar 00:44, 26 Aug 2005 (UTC)

*Support, this article has drastically improved in the past two months Jaz 00:55, 26 Aug 2005 (UTC)

*Support Well written and infomative. I learned a thing or 2 from this since I had not watched TNG in a while. Tobyk777 18:32, 26 Aug 2005 (UTC)

*Oppose - I'm not sure I can support this. It seems to be written more about the Duras sisters and the House of Duras than about the engagement. In fact, I find it hard to support a single engagement, including this one, any more than I could an article based solely on the engagement between the Enterprise-D and the Cardassian warship in the teaser of "The Wounded". --Alan del Beccio 07:22, 2 Sep 2005 (UTC)

* <strike>Toby, I appreciate the fact that you like the article, but it's clearly missing a list of references. I might add it when I'm online later tonight, but in the meantime, based on the nominations of this article and These are the Voyages, I think you need to start reading the entire article before nominating/voting. --Schrei 23:54, 23 Aug 2005 (UTC)</strike>

** On that note, I <s>vote to oppose and</s> would like to, once again, bring up my concerns about frivolous nominations made by this user. --Alan del Beccio 05:34, 24 Aug 2005 (UTC)

*** I know it's kind of late in the voting process, but I added a list of references and cleaned up the article in general, so while I vote neutral because I wrote so much of it, I'd ask that other people read the article and cast a vote now, because if Paradise deserves to be featured, I think this one certainly does. --Schrei 06:00, 28 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Memory Alpha AboutPolicies and guidelinesFA policiesFA criteria → Featured article nominations

This page is for the nomination and discussion of articles that may be potentially included in Memory Alpha's list of featured articles. A featured article is an especially well-written, informative, and comprehensive article that covers all available information on a subject. If you feel one of our articles meets this criteria, you may suggest it here in accordance with the nomination policy. For a list of articles previously nominated, see the archive.

To bring up a current featured article for review, please see the review procedure.

To nominate an article, start a new discussion under "Nominations without objections" with a heading named for the article you want to suggest. Provide an appropriate picture and a two- to three-paragraph summary of the article. This is usually the article's lead-in if possible, and should not contain any links, except to the article itself. This is what will be displayed on the main page and in the portals if the nomination is successful. Followed that by a brief reason why you feel the article should be featured.

Sample format:

<article>
<article> <summary>
----
<reasoning> - <signature>

Once this is done, a notice that the article has been nominated as a featured article candidate should be added to the article in question by inserting fan at the top of the page, above any other templates except the article type template.

When you are commenting on a nomination, please take the time to read the entire article before you decide whether to Support or Oppose the nomination. Nominations with objections should be moved to the appropriate section until they are resolved.

When supporting or opposing an article, please use a bullet point (by adding a * before your comment) without any indent so these will be easy to find later. General comments should be indented as usual, and, as always, please sign your nominations and comments with "~~~~".

Nick Locarno in 2381

Over the next decade, his resentment towards Starfleet festered so much that he conspired to found an independent space exploration organization called Nova Fleet, consisting of starships stolen with the aid of lower deckers he talked into mutinying against their captains.

However, when he attempted to recruit Beckett Mariner, she refused to cooperate and fled with a Genesis Device he had planned to use as a deterrent. His erratic behavior as a result of her actions ended up alienating his followers and ultimately resulted in his death when he was caught in the device's detonation.
