Memory Alpha
This page describes one of Memory Alpha's policies and guidelines.
Please read through the policy below to familiarize yourself with our common practices and rules.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or complaints, please post them on the talk page.

In the day-to-day operations of Memory Alpha, pages and files get deleted. However, there may be cases where something deleted may need to be restored. See the deletion log for pages that have been recently deleted.

Restoration procedure

To request that something be restored:

  • Add the template {{restoration}} below the admin resolution on the archived deletion discussion page.
  • Follow the link on the notice to create a restoration discussion with the reason why you think it should be restored.
  • The listing will remain there for a period of 5-7 days, giving other users the chance to agree with the restoration suggestion, or to disagree with the suggestion.

Users must be logged in to participate in a restoration discussion.

Resolving a suggestion

  • If a rough consensus for restoration is reached after the waiting period, the page/file can be restored.
  • If, after 14 days have passed, there is no consensus for restoration, then the page will remain deleted.

If something was obviously deleted in a manner not according to deletion policy and the deletion guidelines for administrators, then an administrator may restore it immediately. This includes pages or files that may have been deleted as part of the speedy deletion process. In all cases, the administrator who originally deleted the page/file should be informed of the restoration and the reason for it.

In cases where it is not clear whether the deletion took place according to policy or not, it will be assumed that the administrator acted according to the guidelines, and the normal restoration process will be used.
