(written from a Production point of view)
Michael De Luca (born 13 August 1965; age 58) is a producer and former writer who pitched the story for the Star Trek: Voyager second season episode "Threshold".
Du Luca co-wrote several episodes of the horror anthology series Freddy's Nightmares (including one which featured Jeffrey Combs). This led to his writing the screenplay for the 1991 film Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, which he also executive produced. He later wrote and executive produced the 1995 horror film In the Mouth of Madness, which starred the likes of Bernie Casey, John Glover, and David Warner. He also co-wrote the screen story for the 1995 film Judge Dredd, which featured Mitchell Ryan.
Despite his writing efforts, De Luca has become much more prominent in Hollywood as a film producer. He has executive produced three films starring three different Star Trek captains: National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1 (1993), with William Shatner (James T. Kirk); American History X (1998), with Avery Brooks (Benjamin Sisko); and Life as a House (2001), with Scott Bakula (Jonathan Archer). Loaded Weapon 1 also featured F. Murray Abraham, James Doohan, Whoopi Goldberg, and Charles Napier, while American History X co-starred Voyager's Jennifer Lien.
