(written from a Production point of view)

Mike Krohn is a writer who wrote the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine third season episode "Civil Defense".

Krohn pitched the story for the episode initially and wrote the first draft of the teleplay. However, due to other commitments, he did not have time to finish the final draft. The script eventually went through almost the entire writing staff of DS9 before production began on "Civil Defense", due to Michael Piller's rejection of the script. In the end, sole credit for the teleplay was given to Krohn. (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Companion (p. 183))

Krohn enjoyed the experience: "I've never been in a break session before. It was the most fun I’ve had in years. You have Ira, Robert , Rene , and sometimes Ron in a room together and there is an enthusiasm there. It's like you're all astronauts together, strapped to the same rocket. You just pull together and make it happen". (Cinefantastique, Volume 27 Number 4/5)

Krohn's only other writing credit was the 1995 TV movie "Ed McBain's 87th Precinct: Lightning", which included Deep Space Nine performers Christopher Darga and Tracy Middendorf in its cast.
