Michael "Mike" May worked in the art department on the second and third season of Star Trek: The Original Series. Years later, he was the assistant property master on the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation. He received no credit for his work but his name is listed on the call sheets for the episode "Angel One" and "Too Short a Season".

In 1981 he worked as property master on the action film Escape from New York. His credits as assistant property master include the musical comedy Sextette (1978) and the horror sequel Friday the 13th Part III (1982). May also worked as leadman on the 1975 horror film Jaws.
