The space station Mir, a product of the Russian Space Agency, was a late 20th century research facility in Earth orbit.
Rose Kumagawa claimed she saw a UFO over the Gulf but was told by Lieutenant John Kelly that it probably was a meteor or a piece of Mir. Kelly regretted giving her a hard time about the incident when he was trapped inside a spatial anomaly. (VOY: "One Small Step")
