Mir was a habitable orbital space station built and launched by Soviet Russia of the planet Earth in the 1980s.

Rose Kumagawa claimed she saw a UFO over the Gulf but was told by Lieutenant John Kelly that it probably was a meteor or a piece of Mir. Kelly regretted giving her a hard time about the incident when he was trapped inside a spatial anomaly. (VOY: "One Small Step")
