Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Mission Gamma is a series of four novels published by Pocket Books in 2002. The series tells the story of the resumption of Starfleet's exploration of the Gamma Quadrant following the end of the Dominion War, with Elias Vaughn commanding the Defiant on the mission with Julian Bashir, Ezri Dax and Nog among his crew. The series also deals with the process of Bajor's entry into the Federation.
- Marco Palmieri commented: "Mission: Gamma was inspired in large part by my having recently seen a PBS documentary on Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery, which had a great romantic quality to it". Palmieri also commented: "The arc was an experiment. structurally. Mission Gamma was starts out with a story of 200,000 words, and the novels get progressively shorter and faster-paced as the series progresses towards its action climax". (Voyages of Imagination)
