Monte "Monty" D. Swann (6 June 19546 December 2022; age 68) was a video/computer playback engineer and operator. He was among those who handled the 24-frame video displays on Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country as part of Video Image. He was also the supervising video engineer on Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness.

Swann worked with Video Image from 1985 until 1996. During his tenure he worked on such films as Gardens of Stone (starring Dean Stockwell), Scrooged (starring John Glover, Michael J. Pollard, and Alfre Woodard), The Hunt for Red October (1990, featuring Daniel Davis, Boris Krutonog, and Gates McFadden), Soapdish (starring Whoopi Goldberg and Teri Hatcher), The Bodyguard (1992, featuring Bill Cobbs and Mike Starr), Batman Forever (1995, featuring René Auberjonois and John Glover), Crimson Tide (1995, featuring Scott Grimes), Down Periscope (starring Kelsey Grammer), and The Rock (1996, featuring Raymond Cruz, Willie Garson and Tony Todd).

After Video Image, Swann started his own company, Cygnet Video where he continued working as a 24-frame video supervising engineer. His film work as the owner of this company includes Enemy of the State, The Cell (2000), A.I. Artificial Intelligence (2005), Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), National Treasure (featuring Ron Canada and Christopher Plummer), and National Treasure: Book of Secrets (featuring Bruce Greenwood). Monte Swann was the supervising video engineer on Domino (2005), which featured cinematography by Dan Mindel. Swann would again work with Mindel, as well as J.J. Abrams, on Mission: Impossible III (2006). (Mindel was also an additional photographer on the aforementioned Crimson Tide.) Swann's later credits include Unstoppable and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, both of which featured actors from 2009's Star Trek: the former stars Chris Pine, while the latter has Simon Pegg.

Swann's many other film credits include Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Austin Powers in Goldmember, Rush Hour 2, 15 Minutes (starring Avery Brooks, Kim Cattrall, and Kelsey Grammer), The Master of Disguise (starring Brent Spiner), 50 First Dates, 13 Going on 30, and I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry.
