For the humanoid group, please see Morg.

A morgue was a facility or specific area used to store the bodily remains of the recently deceased for purposes of identification of the body, autopsy, and other postmortem activities.

Commander William T. Riker and Doctor Beverly Crusher, having traveled back in time from 2369 to 1893, visited a makeshift morgue in San Francisco that housed the bodies of supposed cholera epidemic victims. (TNG: "Time's Arrow, Part II")

Enterprise NX-01 had a morgue. In 2153 to 2154, the bodies of Damron and his associates were kept in Enterprise's morgue, after their defeat at the hands of Archer and T'Pol in the year 2004. (ENT: "Carpenter Street", "The Forgotten")

Later in 2154, Enterprise's cargo bay served temporarily as a morgue for thirty-one Humans who died in the bombing of the United Earth Embassy on Vulcan. The coffins were draped with Earth Starfleet flags. (ENT: "The Forge")

On many starships, sickbay or another medical facility contains storage areas that use stasis fields to preserve the dead until autopsy, transport, or burial. In 2369, Dr. Crusher used such a device to hold the body of Reyga while she attempted to gain approval from the deceased's family to perform an autopsy. (TNG: "Suspicions")

The storage devices in a morgue can also be used to keep living beings in stasis, which might mask their life signs from sensors. (VOY: "Renaissance Man", "Basics, Part II")

On Cardassian space stations, the stasis room normally acts as the morgue. (DS9: "The Passenger")

Starfleet officer Jean-Luc Picard visited the corpse of his dead friend, Jack R. Crusher in the morgue of Starbase 32 in 2353. (TNG: "Violations")

In 2367, the medical team aboard the USS Enterprise-D set up a room as a temporary morgue for the bodies of USS Brattain personnel. (TNG: "Night Terrors")

When Vhnori corpses began appearing on board the USS Voyager in 2371, the bodies were sent to the morgue. (VOY: "Emanations")

Aboard Dinaali Hospital Ship 4-2, Level White was the ship's morgue. (VOY: "Critical Care")

In 2378, The Doctor sedated Chakotay and Harry Kim and placed them in the ship's morgue. (VOY: "Renaissance Man")
